Real Yoga for Real People

May 2026 - Returning to Source Weekend Retreat Review

I’ve been to multiple retreats with Ricky now, and each one somehow offers something new while still carrying the same grounded, authentic quality that keeps me coming back. Ricky is truly gifted in the depth of teaching, the intentionality, and the care that he brings to every experience.

This retreat, like all the others I’ve been to, felt like a true reset, quiet, intimate, reflective, and deeply restorative. The space itself encourages you to slow down and reconnect with yourself, and Ricky has a way of making yoga feel both accessible and profound at the same time. It’s not just about movement; it’s breath, philosophy, stillness, and genuine connection.

I always leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more centered than when I arrived. If you’re looking for a retreat that feels sincere, welcoming, and rooted in real yoga practice rather than performance, I can’t recommend this enough.

May 2026 - Returning to Source Weekend Retreat Review

This retreat was my first attempt at yoga. I had previously done a handful of breathwork exercises (mostly for anxiety) that were tangentially related, but I didn’t connect yoga and breath at all in my mind. Unwittingly, I was stuck with a misconception that “yoga” is just some kind of ancient Pilates, that it’s nothing but a set of poses you practice to build flexibility and strength.

I’m really grateful that I went to this retreat. I was completely wrong about the nature of yoga, and it was genuinely delightful to learn what it actually is.

The retreat combined physical practice sessions (vinyasa krama), lectures, breathwork, meditation, and time spent socializing together. Getting to go back to the roots and learn the spiritual and physical components of yoga from Ricky was amazing. He was able to explain complicated, deep subjects without it being confusing or overwhelming. He broke down complicated poses and transitions in such a way that everyone was able to follow along. Even me! Whether it was repositioning an errant knee to properly align the hips in triangle pose, or learning the 8 “limbs” of Ashtanga, it was as fun as it was informative. I’m still amazed that the pain free back bending workshop was exactly as advertised. I’m stunned I did a back bend at all, much less without it hurting! I would have never thought that possible after a car accident years ago.

I would honestly recommend anyone to take a class, a workshop, or a retreat led by Ricky Tran. Wherever you’re at in your personal practice, experienced yogi or brand new to the mats, I think you’ll find his ability to meet you where you are and reveal the next right step to be truly incredible.

Can’t wait to attend another session soon!
